The British Embassy Tokyo will have a booth at ad:tech Tokyo, offering the opportunity for 8 innovative UK companies to exhibit and participate in the largest digital marketing conference in Asia.

ad:tech is the world largest exhibition & conference on digital marketing, which has taken place in several cities including London, New York, Sydney, Melbourne, San Francisco, Singapore and New Delhi for the past decade.
ad:tech Tokyo is the biggest trade fair on advertising/marketing in Asia. This international event is exhibited by both domestic and international players who provide services, technologies and solutions in digital marketing. In 2012, 104 companies exhibited at the show, which was attended by 11,856 people from more than 1,800 companies.
Many leading companies are the members of ad:tech Tokyo advisory board; Asatsu DK, Adobe, Kao, Google, GREE, KDDI, Cyber Agent, Shiseido, Shogakkan, TBS(channel 6), TV Asahi(channel 5), Dentsu, Nissan, Nikkei, Japan Coca Cola, Nippon Television(channel 4), Microsoft, Net rating, Hakuhodo, Video Research, Fuji Television(channel 8), Yahoo and McCann Erikson.
One of the features of ad:tech Tokyo is the fact that a large number of attendees are decision makers, so the event was not just a conference or a trade show, but a place for real business discussions.
TopDigital marketing/advertisement in Japan
- The market size of the Internet advertisement (including PC, smart phone, tablet) in the Japanese market in 2012 was about £5.78 billion, 7.7% increase from the previous year (No 2 in size after the US).
- Especially, advertisement in smart phone in 2012 reached £570 million, 343.8% in market size compared with the previous year.
- As background, the number of smart phone subscribers in Japan exceeded over 30 million units in 2011, and the demand for promoting apps on smart phone rapidly increased. The number reached 40 million units in 2012, and the smart phone advertising market is dramatically growing in Japan.
- Japan is No.2 for iPhone apps sales and No.1 for Google apps, which attracts great interests of sponsors in mobile marketing.
- According to a research company, the market size of smart phone advertisement in Japan is expected to be £777 million in 2013 and £1.466 million in 2017.
- Advertising for PC is also still growing with the market size of £3,620 million in 2012. Web-search advertisement is particularly growing as a result of new ad-technologies such as SEO, ad exchange, SSP, DSP.
