Jan 2014 – US Embassy Entrepreneur Award for BLJ’s Steve Crane ……..Thursday 30th January – Following his success at the 2013 British Business Awards last year, BLJ’s CEO Steve Crane was invited to attend the fourth annual US Embassy Entrepreneur Awards last night in Tokyo.
Hosted by US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy at her Embassy Residence, the evening celebrated entrepreneurship and pioneering commerce within Japan. As part of this, Ambassador Kennedy honoured Steve for his achievement of ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the 2013 BBA’s; an award recognizing Steve’s innovative business approach and BLJ’s development of a low-cost, low-risk business model.
Around 200 guests attended the event, with invitees ranging from private-sector business leaders and entrepreneurs to government officials from both the US and Japan administrations.
During the evening’s speeches Ambassador Kennedy placed a great emphasis on the role entrepreneurship plays in shaping economic development:
“After only a few months in Japan, I have become keenly aware that Japan’s innovators and entrepreneurs are responsible for much of the economic optimism that is making the news.”
