The British Embassy marked the occasion of 1,000 days to the opening of the London Olympic games by unveiling a countdown clock, and organising a ‘fun run’ around the Imperial Palace in central Tokyo. Around 60 runners were invited to participate, comprising of a mixture of Japanese and British nationals, with experienced and novice athletes taking part.
British Olympic marathon runner Mara Yamauchi was on hand to give advice and support the proceedings and HM Ambassador David Warren fired the starting pistol.
Business Link Japan was represented by Steve Crane, who started rather slowly, but batted his way through the field to record a (traffic light assisted) time of 22.03 and to finish in a credible 3rd place.
